Stefano Pelinga hails from Rome, Italy where he has served since 1985 as a police officer for the Italian government and has earned the title of "Italy's Top Trick Shot Artist". He began to play pool at the age of 12 in an effort to emulate his favorite singer and actor, Dean Martin and was later inspired by Dino to learn to speak English. Stefano's playing style has been strongly influenced by such legendary players as Paul Gerni, Mike Massey and Yoshikazu Kimura, whose esteem and friendship Stefano unexpectedly gained twenty years later. |
| |
In 1990, Stefano began to devote himself entirely to "Artistic Pool", commonly referred to in its practice as "Trick Shots". Within a short time Stefano had become the reference point in Italy for the fans of this enthralling discipline. |
| |
His first major result came in 1997, when Stefano finished second to Paul Gerni in the "International Challenge Cup" held in Kansas City (USA) and shortly after became an official spokesman for Longoni Cues. Stefano gained two very close I.C.C. 3rd place finishes in October 1998 in Madison, Wisconsin (USA) and in March 1999 in Oslo, Norway. In 1999 Stefano produced his first video, "The Magic of Trick Shots". The video has become a collectible and only very few copies are still available in VHS, DVD & European standard formats. |
| |
In the late 90's Stefano was steadily ranked #3 in the world by the WTSAA (World Trick Shot Artists Association). Since that time, however, Stefano's achivements have been numerous and remarkable. Among these were his 3rd place finish at the ESPN "Trick Shot Magic" comptetition held in October 2000 (Chicago), his 2nd place finish at the EPBF European Trick Shot Championship (Kiev, Ukraine) in September 2001 and his 2nd place finish at the 2001 "Trick Shot Magic" competition (Baltimore, Maryland USA) in October 2001. |
| |
In September 2001, after teaching a seminar on "Geometry and Physics in Billiards" at the University of Kharkov, Stefano was awarded the honorary title of "Professor of Sport Games". In February 2002, at the WPA-BCA World Trick Shot Championship (Willingen, Germany), Stefano won the titles of "World Champion of Massé Shots", "World Champion of Jump Shots", "World Champion of Prop and Novelty Shots" and the award of "Best Demeanor and Sportsmanship". |
| |
At the 2002 "Trick Shot Magic" (Baltimore USA), Stefano once again took 2nd, losing the title by only a single point. In June 2003, in Kiev, Ukraine, Stefano misses the world title by one point yet again to Mike Massey, but on October 12, 2003 he struck back by winning the U.S. Open of Artistic Pool in New Bedford, Massachusetts (USA). |
| |
In March 2004 Stefano won the European Artistic Pool Championship in St. Petersburg (Russia) and in April, during the Masters tournament held in Valley Forge, PA (USA), he sets the new record score in the "massé shots" discipline, with a total score of 44 points out of the maximum 46 possible. |

In October 2005 Stefano reached a new pinnacle in his career, winning the World Championship at the New York New York Casino's ESPN Zone in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), televised under the name of “Trick Shot Magic”. |
| |
He defeated Hall of Famer Mike Massey in the opening round of the tournament, Tom Rossman in the semifinals and the Canadian champion Nick Nikolaidis in the finals. |
| |
In October 2007, in Las Vegas, Stefano again won the ESPN Trick Shot Magic title after a tough semifinal match against Nick Nikolaidis and a relatively easier final against Tom Rossman. Only a few weeks later at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Stefano lead team Europe as Captain to a strong victory over Team USA in the World Cup of Trick Shots. With these victories, Stefano established himself as the most accomplished Trick Shot Champion ever, along with his friend Mike Massey and the two of them together have been the only trick shot champions to have won a total of $ 40,000 in a year. |
| |
